Minnesota Birding

The spring migration proved to be outstanding during the warbler movement. Comments from many people showed this birds group numbers exceeded years past. It may be due to colder weather and late spring storms bunching these guys up in areas south.

More Bird Activity

I have a Sharp-shinned hawk hunting my yard quite a bit. I have seen her several times now and one afternoon I watched her take a cowbird. It was amazing to watch this so close to me (she was around 30 feet away).

The eagle nest located just west of me is active again this year.

Introduction

Welcome to the Birding section of the website. I hope to provide content that will inspire the newly interested, and fill in some gaps for the intermediate bird admirer.

My interest in birds goes back many years to a time when to speak of a sighting of a Bald Eagle brought ridicule from those around you, and put the bird itself at risk, as people were prone to shoot these birds on sight. Times have changed greatly for both the birds and the people around them.
