Tiger Beetles on Crex Meadows
Cicindela purpurea
This Tiger Beetle is commonly known as the Purple Tiger Beetle. It has other common names including the Cowpath Tiger Beetle.
This Tiger beetle was located along an access road off the dead end at the corner of Able Road and Main Dike Road. It was difficult to photograph this day, as it seemed shyer than the other Tiger Beetles I have seen around Crex Meadows.

This Purple Tiger Beetle tended to stay much further away and ran under grassy spots to hide from us. It was easily startled into flight.
Bugguide.net refers to it as uncommon throughout its range.
Is a more upland type of Tiger Beetle.
